Caesars’ location in the Colorado Games City will be known as Horseshoe Black Hawk. The Nevada-based gaming company announced plans to rename the venue in March.

Watch out, Black Hawk. A legend arrives this Friday, July 29. We couldn’t be more excited to make Colorado a new home for the legend that is Horseshoe,” the casino said on its Twitter feed.

The Isle opened in late 1998 and was the largest hotel and casino in Black Hawk, Colorado at the time. It is located next to its sister property, the Lady Luck Black Hawk. Both properties joined the Caesars portfolio through the 2020 acquisition by Eldorado Resorts which created the “new Caesars”.

More than just a name change

In addition to the switch to the Horseshoe name, Caesars’ Colorado Casino is rolling out a new exterior, refreshed rooms and an upgraded gaming area, which includes a World Series of Poker (WSOP) poker room.

Caesars’ efforts to bolster what will soon be known as Horseshoe Black Hawk could pay off as Colorado’s casino landscape is changing, including growing competition in Black Hawk.

The eponymous and newly upgraded Monarch Casinos site in this city is expanding and is arguably considered the fanciest of gambling properties there. Following changes to the state’s gambling laws, operators in Colorado are looking to keep more space in casinos across the state, while attracting high-end customers who are likely to stay multiple nights. New or improved sites contribute to these objectives.

In November 2020, voters in Colorado approved the end of the $100 betting cap on table games, as well as the addition of new games, such as baccarat and pai-gow tiles. Analysts believe the moves could attract high-end customers to the state’s casinos, create more business overnight and keep more of the state’s gamblers at home and away from Las Vegas.

Expect More Horseshoes

Black Hawk Casino will be the sixth Horseshoe site in Caesars’ portfolio, but the operator isn’t stopping use of the iconic brand there.

A refresh of the Lumière Place Casino and Hotel in St. Louis will make it a Horseshoe hotel-casino, while Bally’s on the Las Vegas Strip will soon be called the Horseshoe.

Harrah’s Entertainment acquired the Horseshoe gaming brand in 2004 as part of a $5.2 billion acquisition of Caesars and Binion’s Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas. This venue opened seven decades ago, confirming that the Horseshoe brand is among the most venerable in the Sin City casino gaming scene.
