RGPS Council Bluffs $50,000 Guaranteed Main Event kicks off this week

The last RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) the shutdown will begin in Iowa this week with the RGPS Contenders Horseshoe Council Bluffs $420 buy-in Main Event.

The weekend’s No-Limit Hold’em event, which is expected to take place August 4-7 at Iowa Horseshoe Casinohas a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000 and could break that if the event draws a large enough field.

Three departure flights

The RGPS Contenders Horseshoe Council Bluffs main event will feature three starter flights, the first of which begins Thursday, August 4 at 6 p.m. The second departure flight begins the next day at 10 a.m. and the third departure flight will begin on Saturday, August 6 at 10 a.m.

Each starting flight will see players start with a starting stack of 25,000 chips with blinds at 100/200/200. The three Day 1 steals will end when 12.5% ​​of the field remains in each, and all players who make Day 2 will be in the money. Levels will last 30 minutes until day 2, then change to 40 minute levels.

Day 2 will begin Saturday, August 7 at 10 a.m. and play until the winner, who will take home the lion’s share of the $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. In addition, the eventual winner will win a seat and travel allowance of $800 for the 2022 Contenders ProAm in Las Vegas in December.

When RGPS last stopped at Council Bluffs earlier this year, Dakotah O’Dell removed the Main event at $575 for $48,771 after the four-way chop with Guanyun Cheng, Kaleb Dunn and Eric Kylewho all received the same amount for the highest scores of their careers.

After getting the chop, all four players contested the rest of the tournament for the RGPS trophy and a RunGood ProAm seat, and it was O’Dell who emerged victorious.
