Harrah’s Las Vegas was the site of another recent life-changing victory on the Strip.

Caesars Entertainment property tells Casino.org that a visitor from Arizona was the lucky winner of a jackpot of $918,430 on the morning of Sunday June 12. The winner – who chose to remain anonymous – said he plans to buy a house with the winnings in Arizona.

Caesars says the lucky customer was playing an Ultimate Texas Hold’em table game when he hit the mega progressive jackpot. The winning hand was a royal flush of diamonds.

Explanation: Ultimate Texas Hold’em

Ultimate Texas Hold’em is similar to traditional Texas Hold’em, except that the player plays against the dealer, not against other players. The hand begins with the player placing a blind and ante bet.

Once the bets are placed, the player and the dealer are each dealt two hole cards. The player can then check or raise the ante four times. The dealer then reveals three community cards.

From there, the player can check or bet the ante twice if he has checked previously. If he bets the ante four times after the hole cards, the player cannot bet any more and must check.

The last two community cards are now revealed. At this point, the player cannot bet again unless he has checked on each of the previous two rounds. The player and the dealer reveal their hole cards and the best combination wins.

With a progressive Ultimate Texas Hold’em table, the table offers an optional bet that gives the player a chance – albeit slim – of winning the ever-growing progressive pool. The jackpot is only won with a royal flush, which means the odds are slim.

But that didn’t faze the anonymous guest at Harrah’s Las Vegas who won a small fortune last Sunday.

Jackpots galore

Many guests arrive in Southern Nevada with dreams of getting rich. And for those dreamers, Las Vegas hasn’t disappointed many lucky guests lately.

It was only on Tuesday, June 7th that a Las Vegas resident won $314,911 on a $5 wager playing video poker. The man, who also wished to remain anonymous, hit the jackpot at the Aliante casino north of Las Vegas. The winner admitted to playing video poker machines for many years before finally hitting the jackpot with a royal flush.

The D’s $1.4 million payout — $1,437,768.17 to be exact — was preceded by another life-changing win in the Las Vegas Valley. Also in May, Harrah’s Las Vegas guest Chad Leyden won a prize of over $253,000 playing Pai Gow after hitting the jackpot with five aces. The Iowa resident said he plans to spend some of his winnings with his wife once he gets home.
