Thanks to the upheavals that have plagued a trio of AFC North teams, Circa Survivor’s roster of participants still ‘on the island’ after week two of the 2022 NFL season is significantly lower than it was. was at the start of Sunday’s games.

After 56.2% of competitors were eliminated in the first week, reducing the remaining roster to 2,685 from the original 6,133, another 550 left following losses to the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.

Facing the New York Jets and quarterback Joe Flacco, the Browns were the third most selected team in Circa Survivor last week, behind the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers. At one point in their game, the Browns had a 99.9% probability of winning.

In fact, that point was with 1:55 remaining in the game. But then they gave up 14 points in that span, losing 31-30.

It made the Jets the first team in 21 years to win from a 13-point deficit in the final two minutes.

Bengals, Raiders among other surviving offenders of approximately

The Bengals – Super Bowl runners-up last year – were a logical choice heading into the week. That’s because they faced the Dallas Cowboys without starting quarterback Dak Prescott. Dallas picked up a three-point victory, giving Circa Survivor’s 192 competitors a chance to wait until next year for a shot at glory.

The Baltimore Ravens, another AFC North team, lost to the Miami Dolphins in spectacular fashion, but only five Survivor entrants picked the Ravens. Speaking of dramatic and heartbreaking losses, the Las Vegas Raiders snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, falling to the Arizona Cardinals 29-23 in overtime. This after the Raiders led 20-0 at halftime.

In the first week, no Survivor contestant chose the home team from Las Vegas. But the result of the second week resulted in the departure of 77 participants.

Overall, 12 of the 32 NFL teams were not chosen by Circa Survivor contestants during the second week of the season, and 21 entrants were eliminated for failing to get a choice.

Other Circa Survivor Chances and Endings

Monday night football is a doubleheader tonight, with the Buffalo Bills hosting the Tennessee Titans in upstate New York. The Minnesota Vikings travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in Game 2.

In terms of implications for survivors, 40 candidates will cheer on the Bills, while two need the Eagles to win. The Titans and Vikings are among the dozen unused teams in Week 2.

Another interesting footnote is that in week two, 304 contestants, or 11.3% of entries, used the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams. This means that if these contestants continue to survive, they will not be eligible for a $1 million Circa Sports Awards year-end bonus to contestants who avoid using the previous year’s Super Bowl teams until in the last weeks of the season. It is possible that some of these participants will use the Bengals in the final of the week, making them eligible for the bonus if this team wins its last game of the season.
